March was an amazing month! We started the month out celebrating Dr. Seuss by reading his books and eating green eggs and ham for snack. We also learned about our five senses. The children loved smelling different scents and tasting sweet and sour pickles and gummy worms. We learned a lot about insects, especially snails. We identified the parts of a snail (apex, antennae, tentacles and etcetera). St. Patrick's Day was a very green day. We also enjoyed talking about the celebration of new life, spring, flowers and insects. We learned about the lifecycle of a human, butterfly, frog, ant and owl.
We will start the month with a week of "Teddy Bear" fun. Wednesday, April 6th, please bring in a teddy bear to share. Zoo animals will be our theme for the following week so make sure to bring a toy zoo animal to share. The third week we will learn more about Spring and make fun Easter projects. The Santa Maria Children’s Librarian will visit us on April 19th. She is bringing books about baby animals to read. Finally we will wrap up the month with colors and shapes. Monday wear red, Tuesday wear blue, Wednesday wear yellow, Thursday wear something orange and Friday wear purple. We will also be doing pre-kinder review and working on writing our numbers and letters and practicing our names.
We finished introducing the letters of the alphabet. We will soon start practicing sounding out short two and three letter words and will introduce simple sight words. Please continue working on name writing with your child at home and reinforcing shape, number and letter recognition. We are proud of all the children. They have been working so hard and certainly will be ready for kindergarten.
We would like to give a special "THANK YOU" to Daria's dad Kyle Batty and his friends with The Central City Trio for coming in and playing some special music for us.

What a great month! We began March learning about Dr. Seuss. We made hats so we could pretend to be "The Cat in the Hat". The Red group's favorite story is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. We also had fun learning about bugs and insects and their purpose in this world. We learned about plants and made popcorn plants. Will they grow? We made tissue flowers for our parents and talked about how pretty flowers can be.
In April we will be making Teddy Bear crafts, and Spring and Easter projects galore. Zoo animals is the theme for the second week of April so bring a zoo animal toy to share on Wednesday April 13th. On April 19th our favorite librarian from the Santa Maria Library will be visiting us. Color week will be April 25th - 29th so don't forget to look at the calendar and wear the color for the day. We will continue to work on recognizing our names, learning school rules and having fun with our calendar.
HAVE A HAPPY EASTER AND A GREAT SPRING!
