COVID-19 Guidelines & Routines

Since we opened in 1992, the health and safety of children and staff has always been our priority.

We have implemented the following additional guidelines during this Covid-19 Pandemic. These guidelines may change as additional information becomes available. Please note that all procedures/policies outlined in our Parent Handbook, still apply, except where they conflict with these new guidelines. These guidelines represent best practices as recommended by the CDC and Community Care Licensing as well as our desire to operate a center that meets the educational and developmental needs of children.

Children’s Belongings

Bring your child’s lunch in a disposable paper bag. Be sure to write their name on the bag. Currently we are not allowing any personal toys, back packs or blankets. Please be sure to take your child’s napper home each week to be laundered.

Drop Off and Pick Up

In an effort to limit how many people come into the center, children will be dropped off and picked up in the front lobby. A CCC staff member will be available during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. for drop off and between 11:45 a.m. -12:15 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for pick-up. If you need to drop off or pick up outside these hours, please message us using Bright Wheel or call us at 922-KIDS.We will attempt to accommodate you.

Upon arrival, a CCC staff member will take your child’s temperature, escort them to their classroom and ensure their hands are washed. We are asking parents to self-certify that their child is healthy and able to attend. To limit the spread, please use the Bright Wheel app, on your own device, to sign in your child whenever possible. QR codes are located on the signs by the sidewalk, the front door and on the Ipad located on the front counter. Please let us know if you need assistance with this.

In order to respect social distancing, we are asking that only 1 family comes into the lobby at a time. Please line up at the markers on our sidewalk until it is your turn.

Guidelines for Excluding Children & Staff with Illness

Our revised illness policy is here. We ask that you be extra cautious during this unprecedented time. When in doubt, please keep your child home!

It is critical that an authorized pick up person is available at all times in the event that we need to send home a child. Please be sure we have current phone numbers available for all your authorized pickups.

Staff members temperatures are checked daily upon arrival. Staff members also follow our Illness Guidelines and are encouraged to stay home if in doubt.

Masks

Children are not required to wear masks. If you want your child to wear a mask, we will do our best to encourage them to do so. We do not require staff members to wear masks when they are working in their home classroom. If a staff member has to work in another classroom, they will be required to wear a mask when they are not able to keep a 6-foot distance from the children.

Social Distancing

  • Children are assigned to specific classrooms and do not mix with children from other classrooms.
  • Teachers are assigned to “home” classrooms and rarely work in another classroom.
  • It is impossible for children to social distance at all times in a preschool setting. We are using common sense in this area by distancing the children during nap, table activities, meals and circle time. There are other times during the day that children will be playing close together.

Changes to General Routines

  • We have implemented additional hand washing and hand sanitizing throughout the day.
  • Children’s temperatures are taken upon arrival and again when they wake from nap.
  • In addition to your child’s napping mat, we are covering the cots with a clean crib sheet each day.

Cleaning

We employ a fulltime janitor. Each evening he continues to clean and disinfect all surfaces. High touch areas will be disinfected throughout the day. Items that have gone in a child’s mouth will go into a To Be Disinfected bin immediately.

Outdoor Time

We are spending additional time outdoors. When the weather is nice, some children will nap outside.

Parent Tours/Visitors

  • Interested parent’s will be encouraged to do tours after hours or via Facetime. If an interested parent wants to visit during regular hours, they will be required to have their temperature checked prior to entry and will be required to wear a mask.
  • Other visitors will be required to have temperature checks before entering and wear a mask if children are present in the room with them.

If a CCC child, family member or employee is confirmed with COVID-19

CCC will contact SB County Public Health & Community Care Licensing and follow the protocol they recommend.
